If you are visiting any other country from Pakistan and want to be able to drive then you will need an International Driving Permit. This is because your national driving license only gives you the right to drive in your country but for being able to drive in foreign country you will require International Driving Permit (IDP).
The international Driving Permit is issued by the Traffic Police Department which will require some basic information before accepting your application and then processing it to issue the permit.
How To Apply?
- Visit the official portal of your city Traffic Police.
- Download the International Driving Permit Application Form
- Fill the application form and visit License Office of your city.
Some documents are required while submitting your application form such as:
- 3 Recent Photographs
- Photocopy of Passport with valid visa
- Photocopy of local Driving License
- Photocopy of NIC
- Medical certificate
In the application form you will be required to provide basic information such as your name, father name, nationality, place of birth, date of birth, residential address, NIC no & driving license no.
It will also require information about your driving experience and whether you were ever prosecuted for Traffic violation whether in Pakistan or any other foreign country.
After providing these information you will have to submit the form which will review and accept it for processing. A nominal fee will be charged for the process to issue the International Driving Permit which ideally should be issued at the same day, but in some cases may be delayed for few days.
If your city traffic police department have no online presence than you will have to visit the Traffic Police office to get the application form. Remember to bring your original documents such as Passport, driving license & NIC while visiting the office.
