Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has appointed Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim as the new election commissioner of Pakistan as he signs the summary regarding his appointment as new CEC on Friday.
Earlier, Parliamentary Committee set up for the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner nominated former Governor Sindh Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G Ibrahim as Chief Election Commissioner on the recommendation of opposition party PML-N. All the parties showed absolute consensus over his name.
Meanwhile, President Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf have expressed contentment and congratulated the nation and parliamentary committee on the unanimous nomination of Fakhruddin G Ibrahim as Chief Election Commissioner.
