Peoples Bus Service Route, Timings and Ticket Rates in Karachi

Peoples Bus Service (PBS) is another initiative by provincial government of Sindh to provide better transportation service for the people of Karachi with multiple routes, timings and affordable ticket rates. It is a project of Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) and National Radio Transmission Company.

Peoples Bus service provides comfortable travel for the citizens at affordable prices with Air conditioned and luxurious buses. This is the first time that such transportation services are being provided to the citizens of Karachi, the metropolitan hub of Pakistan and provincial capital of Sindh.

Currently the project consists of 250 Diesel- Hybrid buses which are running in all routes, it is expected that with the passage of time new routes will be launched and number of buses will also be increased.

Timing:

People’s Bus Service is available all days throughout the year from 7 AM in the morning till 10 PM in night. Usually the service is mostly utilized at the start of the day when students, professionals and traders all utilize the service and then in the evening when office hours end.

Ticket Prices:

The ticket prices for most routes are Rs. 50 which is affordable if compared with the facilities that are offered by the transportation service. But for Route-9 the ticket rates are Rs. 100, earlier it was also Rs. 50 but later the price was increased due to the long distance which the routes covers.

PBS Routes:

Currently PBS offers transportation services on 12 routes and soon other routes will be launched. The current routes of PBS are as follows:

  • Route 1 – Model Colony to Tower
  • Route 2 – North Karachi to Landhi
  • Route 3 – Nagan Chowrangi to Singer Chowrangi
  • Route 4 – North Karachi to Dockyard
  • Route 5 – Surjani Town to Masroor Base
  • Route 6 – Gulshan-e-Bihar Orangi to Singer Chowrangi
  • Route 7 – Mosamiyat to Baldia Town
  • Route 8 – Larkana City
  • Route 9 – Gulshan-e-Hadeed to Tower
  • Route 10 – Numaish to Sea View
  • Route 11 – Ziauddin Hospital to Meeran Naka, Lyari
  • Route 12- Hyderabad

The complete details for each routes are as follows:

Route 1 – Model Colony to Tower

The Model colony to tower routes is 29.5 km with 38 stations which are:

  • Model Colony Gate
  • Malir Halt
  • Colony Gate
  • Nata Khan Bridge
  • Drigh Road Station
  • PAF Base Faisal
  • Laal Kothi
  • Karsaz
  • Nursery
  • FTC
  • Regent Plaza
  • JPMC
  • Cantt Station
  • Metropole
  • Art Council
  • Regal Chowk
  • Aram Bagh and
  • II Chundrigar Road are some of the stations on this route.

Route 2 – North Karachi to Landhi (Indus Hospital)

The North Karachi route consists of 30 stations/stops with 32.9 km route. Some of the important stations on its route are as follows:

  • Power House
  • Nagan Chowrangi
  • Shafiq Morr
  • Sohrab Goth
  • Gulshan Chowrangi
  • NIPA
  • Johar Mor
  • Drigh Road Station
  • Colony Gate
  • Shah Faisal Colony
  • Singer Chowrangi &
  • Landhi Road (Indus Hospital).

Route 3 – Power House to Singer Chowrangi

It’s another route which starts from Power House in North Karachi and leads to Singer Chowrangi in Korangi. It is a 33 km long route for which the bus travels through:

  • 5 Star Chowrangi
  • KDA Chowrangi
  • Nazimabad Eid Gah Ground
  • Liaquatabad 10
  • Essa Nagri
  • Civic Centre
  • National Stadium
  • Karsaz
  • Nursery
  • FTC
  • Korangi Road
  • KPT Interchange
  • Shan Chowrangi &
  • Singer Chowrangi

Route 4 – North Karachi to Dockyard

Multiple buses passes through North Karachi and Route 4 also covers it. The main stops for this route are:

  • Mosamiyat
  • University Road
  • Motorway M9
  • Ayesha Manzil
  • Lalu Khait
  • Guru Mandir
  • Empress Market
  • Sindh High Court
  • II Chandigarh Road
  • Dock Yard

Route 5 – Surjani Town to Masroor Base

The route from Surjani Town to Masroor Base is of 28.2 kilometre route and covers the following stations:

  • Surjani Town,
  • Shafiq Morr
  • KMDC
  • Ziauddin Chowrangi
  • KDA Chowrangi
    Musa Colony
  • Manghopir
  • SITE Area
  • Gulbai are all stops along the .

Route 6 – Gulshan-e-Bihar Orangi to Singer Chowrangi

People of Orangi can also benefit through PBS as one of the routes with 29.6 km from Gulshan-e-Bihar Orangi to Singer Chowrangi covers the following stations:

  • Orangi Town
  • Banaras
  • Paposh Nagar
  • SITE Area
  • Golimar
  • Garden
  • PIB Colony
  • Jail Chowrangi
  • Bahadurabad
  • Baloch Colony
  • Mahmoodabad
  • Manzoor Colony
  • Defense Housing Authority (DHA)
  • KPT Interchange
  • Shan Chowrangi.

Route 7 – Mosamiyat to Baldia Town

For students in Baldia Town PBS will be beneficial as it covers the distance of 28.9 km from Baldia Town To mosamiyat with following stops:

  • Gulzar-e-Hijri
  • Gulshan-e-Iqbal
  • Federal B Area
  • North Nazimabad
  • Orangi Town
  • Qaddafi Stadium

Route 8 – Larkana City (New Bus Stand to Quest)

The 12 km route for Larkana city is as follows:

  • Commerce collage
  • 7 no naka
  • City School
  • Shaikh zaid Morr
  • Sachal Morr
  • IBA School
  • City Hospital sachal
  • Chandka Pull
  • High Court
  • Sir Shah Nawaz Libarary
  • Atta Turk tower
  • Allahabad.

Route 9 – Gulshan-e-Hadeed to Tower

One of the longest route of PBS is from Gulshan-e-Hadeed to Tower which covers a distance of 58 km and passes through following locations:

  • Steel town morr
  • Shah lateef town
  • Manzil Pump
  • Quaidabad
  • Malir 15
  • Kalaboard
  • Malir Halt
  • Wireless Gate
  • Chota Gate
  • Star Gate
  • Colony Gate
  • Nata Khan Bridge
  • Drigh Road
  • PAF
  • Karsaz
  • Awami Markaz
  • Baloch Colony
  • Nursery
  • Regent Plaza
  • Metropole
  • Art Council II Chundrigar Road
  • Tower

Route 10 – Numaish to Clock Tower Sea View

The route 10 starts from Numaish and then goes through along M.A. Jinnah Road with the following stops: , M.A Jinnah , Seabreez, Tibet centre, Bolton Market, Civil Hospital, KMC Building , City courts, Tower, I.I Chundrigar Road, Shaheen Complex, Arts Council, Fawara Chowk, Metropole, Freer Hall, Teen Talwar, Do Talwar, Park Tower, Abdullah Shah Ghazi Mazar.

Route 11 – Bilawal Chowrangi (Ziauddin Hospital) to Lyari

This routes covers a distance of 12.5 km going through following locations: Bilawal Chowrangi, Boat Basin, Mai Kolachi, US Embassy, Netty Jetty, Maripur Road, Keamari, and Lyari.

Route 12 – Hyderchowk to Hatri Bypass

People Bus will travel through the following locations in Hyderabad:

  • NBP Fatima Jinnah
  • Gul Center
  • Defense Plaza
  • Rani Bagh
  • SPSC Head Office
  • Niaz Stadium
  • Giddu chowk
  • Wahdat colony
  • Polytechnic Collage
  • Qasim Chowk
  • Pathan colony
  • Centeral Jail
  • Halanaka
  • Isra Hospital


After successful launches in Karachi Sindh Government launched Peoples Bus Service in Hyderabad and Larkana. Currently both cities have one route but in both cities more routes will be inaugurated in next phase.

Sindh Government is also planning to launch Pink Peoples Bus Service which will be dedicated for women only.
