The development of Peoples Bus Service smartphone app with its launching on November 30, and the integration of the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) into the buses have been announced by Sharjeel Inam Memon, Sindh’s Minister of Transport and Mass Transit.
For this purpose, the Minister held a conference that was also attended by Captain (r) Altaf Hussain Sario, Managing Director (MD), Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA), and Project Director of the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC), Sohaib Shafiq.
Operations of the bus service, new routes, ITS, and the creation of a command and control room (CCR) were all covered during the conference.
The Minister stated that the ITS system will be deployed along with CCTV cameras, live tracking, and monitoring services. The app will assist citizens in tracking the live location of the buses as well as provide them with a means of making online payments, he added.
According to the News’s report, Managing Director SMTA said that the app will have three functions: bus routes, schedules, and ticket prices. The app’s online payment feature, which will be released later in December of this year, will allow commuters to pay their fee via a QR code or the app itself.
He added that the new app will also enable citizens to activate their Peoples Bus Service cards.
