Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a show-cause notice to all-rounder Shahid Afridi for slammed his teammates for poor performances and blamed batsmen for the defeat against West Indies after returning Dhaka recently by taking part in the World Twenty20 tournament.
According to the reports, PCB decided to issue s show-cause notice against Shahid Afridi for interacting with the media. The notice was issued after some members of the national team communicated their questions to the board over the comments made by the blunt Afridi, according to sources in the board.
A PCB official confirmed that the board wants clarification from the experienced all-rounder for his statements given to media on his return from Bangladesh after deafening out of World Twenty20 at Jinnah International Airport.
Afridi told the media at the airport that Pakistan team had not shown an aggressive attitude in the match against the West Indies which led to their dismissal from the tournament before the semi-finals. He also said that he would accept the captaincy as a challenge, if offered. Later, Mohammad Hafeez resigned as the Pakistan Twenty20 captaincy.
PCB Chairman Najam Sethi said, “If I had I been in place of Shahid Afridi, I would not have spoken to media. I don’t know whether Shahid Afridi was granted permission to talk to media or not”. Afridi replied in that issue “I was simply replying to a question stood by a reporter and that later my reply was taken out of circumstance”.
