From whichever country you belong to, you need a passport of your country if you want to travel to another country. But, do you know why the passports of the world are only available in four colors (red, blue, green and black) and how does a country chooses the color of its passport?
For this Mr. Hrant Boghossian who is the vice president of Passport Index database tells that most passports color is red or blue, and that the color of country’s passport is selected from the shades of red, blue, green and black.
Although, the selection of passport’s color depends on geography, political and religious base. However, there are no restrictions for any country that the country should specify a color for its passport.
Red Passports
Red passport is usually used by the countries that are the part of European Union or they desire to be a part of it.
Blue Passports
Generally, for blue passports the term ‘New World’ is also used. Brazil, Argentina and Caribbean Island use this color of the passport.
Green Passports
Many Islamic countries use the color green for their passports. One reason for that is the significance importance of green color in Islam. Many shades of green color are also used in many countries of Africa.
Black Passports
For black passports it is become an idea that they look more official.
