Parliamentary Committee on judges appointment has received Judicial Commission’s recommendations regarding elevation of four judges’ to Supreme Court and three for Islamabad High Court on Friday.
The Chairman Parliamentary Committee (PC) Senator Nayyer Hussain Bukhari would convene meeting of committee during commencing week.
The Judicial Commission meeting under the Chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry recommended names of current CJ Lahore High Court Justice Chaudhry Ijaz and current CJ Peshawar High Court Justice Ijaz Afzal have been approved for the Supreme Court.
The names of Justice Gulzar Ahmed from the Sindh High Court and Justice (retd) Athar Syed have also been approved for the Supreme Court.
Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed’s name has been approved for the position of Chief Justice Lahore High Court while the name of Justice Dost Muhammad has been approved for Chief Justice Peshawar High Court.
The three names, Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, Azam Afridi and M Qureshi have been recommended to appoint as judges’ of Islamabad High Court.
These names were forwarded to the parliamentary committee for approval sources in senate secretariat told SANA that the recommendations have been received to the chairman of PC and these recommendations were sent by the registrar of Apex court.
It is worth mentioning here that there were 13 judges’ in Supreme Court after elevation of these judges to apex court the number of judges would be completed.
