Karachi: Good news for Pakistanis that Pakistan’s Robot took place 3rd position by defeating opponents of German and Chinese. Actually this Pakistani robot was prepared by the IBA students as it was put in the robot competition held in Iran from April 9 to April 11 and 2000 students from 22 countries had participated in the competition.
The Pakistani student’s team consists of three students named as Imran Hemani, Safeer Hussain and Nabeel Zahid Rajput, in the direction of IBA Artificial Intelligence Lab head Dr Sajjad Haider which was designed to progress robot technology for home and office use. The robot can move from one place to another as per instruction with a webcam-style add-on peripheral, or Kinect, connected on top of it to do the visuals.
Iran won the first two positions in the competition as the participant of this competition Pakistani student said that it was a very happy moment for us when the Pakistani flag was waving with flags of the countries that are more developed in robot technology.
Robot technology is still at an early stage in Pakistan and this success of Pakistani students is evidence of the bright future of Pakistan. If the government and other institutions help students with funds and exploration in this field, then it would be the essence of great achievement in progress of Pakistan. Many countries have a vast area in the development of robot technology since many years but it has been started in Pakistan few years ago backed by the academic institutions. It is necessary to pay attention in this regard for the favor of Pakistan, so that Pakistan would be able to stand among the highly developed countries.
