The renowned Pakistani theoretical physicist Dr. Riazuddin was born in Ludhiana in 1930, after independence their family migrated to Pakistan and settled in Lahore.
He completed his Bsc And then Msc in mathematics in Punjab University and then completed his PhD from Cambridge University in Theoretical Physics. During these years he studied under the supervision of Noble Prize Winner Dr. Abdus Salam.

After completing PhD he came to Pakistan and become Associate Professor at Punjab University, but after a fellowship settled in USA as Research Associate Professor but came back to Pakistan and founded Institute of Physics at Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad.
He worked with his teacher Dr. Abdus Salam in his International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Italy, later he become part of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC). It is said that he was one of the leading scientists behind Pakistan’s achievement of being an Atomic Power.

He have been awarded Pakistan highest civil awards Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Hilal-i-Imtiaz. He died on 9 September 2013 at the age of 82.
