Pakistan hockey team will face India in the final of the 2nd Asian Champion Trophy today which is played at Doha, Qatar. India lost their last group match against Malaysia by 3-5 on Tuesday. Pakistan defeated Japan by 5-2 in another round-robin league match earlier on Tuesday. The final match between Pakistan and arch rivals India will start at 7:30 PM.
Pakistan won their matches against Oman, China (5-2). Pakistan held to 3-3 draw by Malaysia and lost the group match against India by 1-2. Defending champions India last year defeated Pakistan 4-2 via penalty shootout in the inaugural edition in Ordos, China.
Pakistan and India hockey team will also play a bilateral series next year. Pakistan team will visit India in March 2012 and men in blue will tour Pakistan in May next year. Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) chief Asif Bajwa and Hockey India (HI) secretary-general Narinder Batra are set to meet in Lahore on 29th December to discuss the resumption of bilateral hockey ties between two nations.
