ISLAMABAD: The defense minister Khawaja Asif has said that if Pakistan will stand with Saudi Arabia if it faces any threats and we will react strongly. During the joint session of the parliament, considering the Yemen situation, Khawaja Asif gave his policy statement that Saudi Arabia had requested Pakistan for help as well as asking for jets and warships.
Khawaja Asif said that the situation in Yemen worsened in last few days and by realizing the seriousness of the situation in Yemen, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif decided to hold talks in parliament on the issue. He added that the government of Pakistan Muslim League (N) believed in important decisions made by mutual advice and suggestions.
The defense minister further said that the first preference of the government was to ensure security of Pakistanis in Yemen, adding that Nawaz Sharif himself supervised the operation of evacuating Pakistanis from Yemen. He thanked to the government of Saudi Arabia as it gave a secured passage for the evacuation of Pakistanis from Yemen.
Khawaja Asif vowed that Pakistan would defend Saudi Arabia in case of any threats to its integrity. He stated that the premier had also vowed to defend Saudi Arabia at any cost. He further said that Pakistan would favor every act that could return peace in Yemen. Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan condemned the acts of non-state elements in Yemen.
He added that Pakistan and Turkey agreed to find out a peaceful solution of the Yemen issue, adding that Pakistan and Turkey agreed to unite the Muslims across the world. He said that All the decisions made by Nawaz Sharif in past were in the interest of Pakistan.
