Karachi: Pakistan former stars and current cricket players will feature in a Independence Day Festival T20 match at the DHA Moin Khan Cricket Academy in Customs Peace Cup 2013 today on the eve of the 66th Independence Day (14th August).
The match is organized by Customs Cricket Academy as a “Tribute to Pakistan”. Some part of the funds collected through this match will be spent on the welfare of low rank employees and their families.
Pakistan Stars XI will be captain by Inzamam-ul-Haq in the absence of Wasim Akram as he has went to Lahore because of his father’s illness. The team will also have former wicket keeper Moin Khan, Younis Khan, Sixer Machine Shahid Afridi, star all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, Imran Nazir, Faisal Iqbal, wicket keeper Sarfraz Ahmed. Khurram Manzoor, Sohail Khan and other national cricketers.
The Pakistan Customs XI will be led by former wicket-keeper Rashid Latif and team will consist of Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Fawad Alam, Khurram Shahzad, Hasan Raza, Rameez Raja Jr, Saad Alam, Hafiz Asad Baig, Waqar Anwar and others.
The match will start at 8.30 PM and will be telecast live on Pakistan’s first sports channel Geo Super. The match organizers have also said that from now on the match will be made an annual feature and will be played every year. But due to rainy conditions in Karachi the match may be delayed or postponed today.
