Islamabad: Former City Nazim Karachi and eminent leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Senator Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday suggested that Pakistan should avoid championing the matter of Myanmar Muslims, local newspaper reported.
While speaking during a session of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Parliament House, he said Pakistan was already facing internal disputes of sectarianism and target killings of Shias and if Pakistan gets itself involved into a foreign issue instead of tackling domestic problems, the international community would highly criticize Pakistan.
It is seriously a matter of concern what the leaders of MQM are up to? Their statements usually make no sense. It appears that MQM have completely forgotten the meanings of humanity for which they always cry during their special events and their Chief’s address. The issue of killings of minorities in Pakistan is the same as killings of minorities in any other country and we must highlight and give preference to both the issues at the same level.
We still remember how the MQM Chief went to India many years ago, begging for their rights on the basis of humanity and demanding the Indian authorities to accept them if injustice and discrimination continues to happen against them. If that was not merely an internal dispute and one could went across the boundary to ask for help, then why stopping Pakistan to raise the voice against the genocide of Muslim brothers in Myanmar.
