The new rates are applicable with the issue of the notification, prices are also updated on the website of Pakistan Railway. The E-ticketing portal and the application are also showing the new cost of tickets.
It is expected that with the reduction in ticket cost more people will prefer to travel through Pakistan Railways. Last year the income of Pakistan Railways was 38 billion Rupees which is expected to increase, with a projected income of 45 billion.
It is said that this step was taken to increase the sales which will result in increase of profit. But questions are also being raised that if the policy is to increase the sales through rates then why was prices increased in 2017?
