The Directorate general of immigration and passports is the authority responsible for the issuing of all kinds of passports in Pakistan. Passports are issued under the categories Ordinary, diplomatic and official. Machine readable passports are now being offered which will replace the old manual ones and can be used all over the world. The passport office can be contacted on the number 0800-34477 or through the website dgip.gov.pk.
Those people who want to get their passports must visit their closest passport office with their original CNIC along with two copies, a paid passport fee challan and their old passport along with a copy if available. For children under 18 years, their original NADRA B form and copies of their parents CNIC should be brought. It is also necessary for one of the parents to accompany their children.
Government officials are required to bring their department permission letter while army personnel should come in uniform. Dual nationality holders are required to show the documents of their other nationality. The fee for a normal ordinary passport is Rs 3000 while and urgent ordinary passport fee is Rs 5000. The timings of the passport office are from 8.30 to 1 pm on weekdays and 8.30 to 12 pm on Friday.

Dear Sir,
It is heartening to see that senior citizens are treated well at Passport Offices. But this treatment starts after the Photos are taken. There is a long queue for the photographs which is the first step to get your passport. One needs to stand in the queue for almost 1/2 hours. This is cumbersome for the old people. Here too some arrangement can be and should be made that the senior citizens are queued in a separate line. Thanks
