Today I will discuss about the ongoing Pakistan and Sri Lanka series and also the upcoming T20 World Cup which will be played in Sri Lanka and will also be telling the facts and figures of the T20 World Cup which is just round the corner.
Sri Lnaka has won the One Day Internationals series against Pakistan by 3-1. Sri Lnka won the final match by two wickets. At one stage Pakistan were in a position to won the match but Sri Lanka all rounder Angelo Mathews scored unbeaten fifity to take Sri Lanka to vitory stand. The series was nightmare for former cpatrain Younis Khan, Pakistan T20 captain Mohammad Hafeez and Shahih Afridi. All the three players failed misberabbly in baating department.
Professor Hafeez failed to impress and he scored only 57 runs in five matches and now cricket experts are saying that Hafeez must concentrate on his batting instead of bowling. There was also no good for Younis Khan as his tally of runs in the series was only 10. Darling of Pakistan cricket Shahid Afridi managed 28 runs in five matches. Pakistan batting performance was below par in the series. Azhar Ali and Misbah some how scored in all the matches. Pakistan is now ranked sixth in ICC One Day Internatioals Ranking; Australia is at top of the rankings.
So folks what do you people think about the batting of three pakistan players? Do you think they should be given another chance? There are reports that Mohammad Hafeez and Shahid Afridi will not be dropped but there is a chance that Younis Khan may be dropped from squad. Younis Khan was also not in the final eleven in the final match.
Friends it looks that Pakistan will have to imoprve its batting before the T20 World Cup. Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-haq, Azhar Ali will not be in the squad so we can hope that Hafeez, Asad Shafiq, Umar Akmal and Afridi will be in full form.
All the fans of Pakistan out there please pray that Pakistan will qualify for the next round. Pakistan is the only team which has played all three semi finals of the three T20 World Cups.
Now I will give the detail of records of the three T20 World Cups. In batting the Sri Lanka Mahela Jayawardene has scored the most runs i.e. 615. Recently retired Kevin Peitersen has scored 580 runs and another Sri Lankan batsman Dilshan is on third with 453 runs. In bowling Shahid Afridi and Umar Gul has bagged 27 and 26 wickets respectively where as Malinga and Saeed Ajmal has grabbed 25 and 23 wickets respectively. Three players have scored centuries in World Cup event. Any Guesses??? It is Chris Gayle on the top with his 117 runs which he scored in 2007 T20 World Cup. Suresh Raina of India and Jayawardene has also scored three figure score.
As this World Cup is in Sri Lanka than it looks that spinners will play the vital role in bowling and batsman will have to adjust with the spin friendly conditions.
