Pakistan cricket team lost all the three test matches against hosts South Africa in the recent concluded series. Misbah-ul-haq men failed to compete in any of the match and all the matches ended before fifth day.
South Africa won the first match by 211 runs at Johannesburg Graeme Smith men won second Test match by four wickets at Newlands, Cape Town. In this match Pakistan’s Younis Khan and Asad Shafiq scored centuries and showed some resistance and Saeed Ajmal also took 10 wickets but still Pakistan were on losers side. The third test match at SuperSport Park, Centurion was also won by South Africa won by an innings and 18 runs.
Pakistan top order batsmen failed miserable in the tour. Asad Shafiq was highest run scorer with 199 runs at an average of 33.16. Younis Khan scored 184 runs at an average of 30.16. Skipper Misbah-ul-haq and Azhar Ali scored 135 (22.50 average) and 133 (22.16 average) runs respectively. Opener Mohammad Hafeez batting average during the tour was even worse than tail enders as he ended test series with only 43 runs in six innings at an average of 7.16. Among bowlers only Saeed Ajmal wickets tally went into double figures thanks to his 10 wicket haul in second test match. He picked 11 wickets in the series.
If now Pakistan has to end this South African tour on high than they must play spinners in Twenwty20 Internationals and One Day Intenrtaiol (ODI) series. Misbah and Hafeez (captain of T20 Internationals) should play aggressive and positive cricket.
