Karachi: A Pakistani army soldier had killed his senior officer in 2008 was hanged on Thursday in Mianwali. It was first time in the whole duration of the current Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government that a prisoner was awarded such punishment. The name of soldier is Muhammad Hussain who had killed their senior officer Havaldar Khadim Hussain.
According to media reports, the resident of Langarwala Pul of Sahiwal Tehsil was hanged in Mianwali Jail’s Phansi Ghat on Thursday at 6:30 am. Serving officer of Pakistan Army Colonel Nisar, Jail Superintendent Qazi Muhammad Aslam, Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Mansha, Magistrate Ilyas Rehan, Jail Doctor Muhammad Umer and other concerned officials were also present during the implementation.
Meanwhile, Hussain also submitted the mercy appeals to the General Headquarters (GHQ) but Chief of army staff and President of Pakistan refused his appeal.
