: Officials of defence and national security institutions have stated that Pak Army is fully capable to reply any foreign aggression, whereas the Standing Committee on Defence has warned that Pakistan is not a soft target, if any foreigner helicopter violated the air boundary, it would not return back safely.
Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir, Secretary Defence lieutenant general (retd) Syed Athar Ali and ISI officials briefed the Standing Committee on Defence regarding the current situation of Pak-US relations.
The meeting of standing committee on defence held under the Chairmanship of Lieutenant general (retd) Javed Ashraf Qazi on Tuesday at Parliament house.
Standing Committed stated that the whole nation is on the back of Pak Army on the issues of National Security and Defence the Committee demanded that all agreements with United States regarding cooperation should be in written form.
Committee demanded that all friend countries should be made aware of the current situation of Pak-US relations, adding that the delegations should be sent to the friend countries in this regard.
According to sources the members of committee demanded that the agreements of cooperation with United States should be brought before the parliament.
Briefing media after the meeting of Committee, Chairman Javed Ashraf Qazi said that committee has rejected the US allegations and condemned the threats and pressure.
He said that committee has asked to the government to reject the US pressure of any level, adding that Pakistan would decide about operation in North Waziristan Agency. Committee has welcomed the Convening of All Parties Conference by Prime Minister Gilani, he added.
He said that we assure Pak Army that the whole nation is behind the forces to meet any kind of challenge, adding that the leadership should take decisions unanimously.
He said that United States has leveled baseless allegations on Pakistan; it did not provide any kind of proofs. These allegations are not in favour of war against terrorism and terrorists would take benefit of this situation.
He warned that if United States takes any kind of action including economic or military than Pakistan reserves right of counter action.
He said that Jalaluddin Haqqani was a responsible commander and they are former Mujahdeen and these were the favorite of United States in Afghan war against the Soviet Union.
Javed Ashraf Qazi said that allied forces have been limited into the cants areas of Afghanistan and Taliban have occupied the various cities, adding that Haqqani group has control over four provinces and they have influence in seven provinces. Haqqani group has its governors in some of those provinces, he further added.
He said that United States has not provided required material to Pakistan in war against terror, adding that United States has provided only 600 million dollars instead of more than 8 billion dollars funds.
How it is possible that United Stets and allied are not aware of the hideouts of Haqqani network and why they do not do drone attack on them Javed Qazi questioned. (SANA)
