The spread of coronavirus is making people think that every fever, cough and flu is a symptom for COVID-19. Many online facilities in Pakistan are trying to help such people in deciding whether they need a coronavirus test or not.
One such online test is launched by Dr. Ziauddin Hospital which can be accessed through their official website. Dr. Ziauddin Hospital is a renowned medical facility in Karachi which was established in 1957 and has spread not only across the metropolitan city with multiple hospitals but also made it international presence through Zia Medical Center which is located in Dubai, UAE.
Is Online Test Beneficial?
The online coronavirus test offered by Dr. Ziauddin Hospital relies on the available data about the symptoms of the viral disease and helps patient in deciding whether he requires a test or not. Currently, it is available in three languages which are English, Urdu & Sindhi.
It is a combination of 10 questions which the applicant is required to answer in Yes or No, these questions are:
1) Do you have Fever above 101.4?
2) Do you have Dry Cough?
3) Do you have Wet Cough?
4) Do you have Shortness of Breath?
5) Do you have Flu?
6) Have you traveled abroad in the last 15 days?
7) Have you been in contact with any person who has recently traveled internationally?
8) Do you have chest infection?
9) Is your age more than or equal to 60 years of age?
10) Is your age more than or equal to 60 years of age?
After answering these questions, the applicant is required to click on ‘Submit’ after which a message will be reflected on the screen whether you a potential suspect for COVID-19 or not.
The message in case of suspected case will be “Suspected ! Test for Corona, Inform to Authorities, Stay at home in Isolation” while for others it will be “No Admission Required, Isolate at Home”.
It is a model based on major symptoms of the disease, if you feel sick then consulting your doctor or visiting a hospital is the best option.
