Due to the continuing epidemic of Coronavirus Commissioner Karachi has initiated a plan for online & collective Qurbani for Bakra Eid 2020 by joining hands with charitable organizations in the city.

Few days ago a meeting was also held in Commissioner Office Karachi where representatives of different charitable and social welfare organizations also participated including Edhi Foundation, Chhipa Welfare Association, Al-Khidmat Foundation, Saylani Welfare Trust, Jamia Binoria Site, Alamgir Welfare Trust and Daawat-e-Islami.

In the meeting, it was decided that these organizations will provide the facility of booking sacrificial animals online and then DC ensured them that all 6 districts will facilitate these organizations in the process of ijtemai Qurbani.

After the successful meeting DC Office also advertised the agenda through different newspapers asking other charitable organization to initiate similar programs and contact with DC Office for support and help.

It is planned that these organization will provide the booking of goat or shares in cow through online system, on phone or by visit in their office where all SOPs regarding COVID-19 will be followed. It is hoped that this will reduce the interaction and socializing between people which occurs in livestock market (cow mandi) where each year millions of customer’s trade with thousands of livestock traders.

Collective Qurbani will also ensure that animals are sacrifice in designated areas from where remains of animals can be easily collected and the cleaning process will be easily implemented. It will be easy for DC Office to ensure SOP implementation in these collective sacrificial grounds.
It was also considered that delivery and dispatch of meat on doorsteps should also be considered which will further reduce the risk of spreading corovirus during Eid ul Adha.

Organizations that can provide such facilities should contact Commissioner Office Karachi at these phone numbers: 021-99205601, 021-9920668

It is hoped that similar initiatives will also be launched in other big cities of Pakistan such as Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar, Multan, Hyderabad, Faisalabad and Gujranwala.

Many private entities are also offering similar services such as Meat One and Carrefour, through their simple process customers can book their Qurbani online and through phone. After successful payment customers will be provided a token number and date & time for picking their packaged meat from designated store and center.
