Napier: After the loss in first One Day match the English team levels the series by winning the second match all at ease. After winning the toss the English One Day skipper Alastair Cook decided to field first. The Kiwi’s were asked to set a total for the visitors.
Batting was not easy for the New Zealanders as in the 9th over the score reached to just 19 at the loss of two wickets of both openers. The 3rd wicket partnership stabled the inning. The top scorer for New Zealand was Ross Taylor who scored 100 runs of 117 balls the 2nd highest scorer was the captain Brendon McCullum with 74 of just 36 balls. The English pace star James Anderson took five wickets conceding just 36 runs of his 9.5 overs. New Zealand managed to set a target of 270.
The visitors comfortably chased down the target of 270 losing just 2 wickets, JE Root scoring 79 and Captain Alastair Cook 78. England finished the match in 48th over. The decider match will be played on 23rd February.
