The veteran diplomat, David Hale has been nominated as the next ambassador to Pakistan by United States President, Barrack Obama. Hale has been the US Ambassador to Lebanon since 2013. He has not yet been confirmed but only nominated by the president. His position will be confirmed by the senate. If so, the David Hale will replace Richard Olsen as the US ambassador to Pakistan.
Hale has served as the special envoy to the Middle East peace from 2011-2013 and also as a deputy special envoy for Middle East peace from 2009 till 2011. He was a deputy assistant secretary of state in the Bureau of Near eastern Affairs at the Department of State before embracing this position. He served as the US ambassador to Jordan from 2005 till 2008 and also at the US embassy in Jordan as Charged Affaires from 2004 till 2005.
Hale also served as the deputy chief of mission from 2003 to 2004. He has also served as the director of the office of Israel and Palestinian affairs, executive assistant to the secretary of state. He has also served at various other positions in Bahrain, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.
