The absolute marking system has been changed at the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSS) levels by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE).
The absolute marking system has reportedly been replaced with a grading system, under which outcomes will be reported in grades, GPA, and CGPA.
The action tries to combat the competitive atmosphere among pupils. This year will mark the implementation of the new grading system for SSC part-I and HSSC part-I.
The new grading system will start using for SSC part-II and HSSC part-II in 2024. Results will initially be reported in terms of absolute marks, grades, and GPA.
Only grades, GPAs, and CGPAs will be used to publicize results starting in 2025.
