On 16th February at least 84 people were killed and over 200 injured in a bomb blast in busy market of Quetta targeting Shia Hazaras. After the attack massive protests, sit-ins were seen in different cities of pakistan. Life was paralyzed in many cities also.
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) demanded army deployment in Quetta for improvement of law and order in the city. PTI chairman Imran Khan said: “There is constitutional provision for deployment of armed forces under Article 245 of the constitution, the army can be deployed in Quetta according to the demand by the victim families of Hazara community,”.
After blast in Quetta in January (which killed over 100 people) provincial government of Balochistan was dismissed and governor’s rule was imposed in the whole of Balochistan. This was done to improve law and order and it was hoped that terrorist attack will be stopped in future.
However this recent bomb attack has showed that it does not matter who is managing the government affairs, the thing which matters is honesty. Any government who runs their tenure by honesty and without political interference in law enforcement agencies then these type of bombing will never happen again.
In the last I want to ask PML-N and PTI that if army is deployed in Quetta and then bomb blast happened again so will they demand NATO deployment in the city?
