Pakistan’s company, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has made successful attempt in winning the Sri Lanka ID project. The international bidding process invited upon various IT firms operating globally. To win over the project, NADRA has been given the task of taking National Person’s Registry of all the eligible citizens with digitization of the biometric and biographic details.
Officials of the concerned department would deal with transforming the written details to electronic medium. Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, expressing pleasure over NADRA’s performance presented good wishes to the NADRA chairman and said that the competent performance have earned good name to the country.
NADRA being the lowest bidder in the process has received Letter of Intent, thereby giving permission to initiating the project.
The bidding process involves three steps:
1 Segregating Scanning/Digitization of the new ID forms
2 ID card Backed System and Data Center
3 Personalization of ID Cards
Complying with the local firms was compulsory for the international institutions.
As the first phase of the project, the institution has been given the task of digitizing the ID forms that involve as many as 15 million identity card holders, in written format.
Time limit of maximum 9 months has been set as challenge for NADRA to meet the requirement. Officials have expressed confidence and look forward to win the project.
