Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Jammu & Kashmir is the richest district in Pakistan, announced Planning Commission of Pakistan in a new report. Lahore district ranked 2nd in the list of richest areas, while Karachi, Rawalpindi were far behind in the list.
Among the poorest districts of Pakistan Qilla Saifullah and Umarkot, from Balochistan & Sindh, respectively, are the worst areas in whole Pakistan.
One of the major reasons for Muzaffarabad being top of the list is that many people have settled in abroad, especially in UK. They send high remittance back to Pakistan each year and because of the strict laws in UK they are unable to hide their assets.
While in other districts of Pakistan people avoid to show their assets and fail to file tax returns.
