Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has expressed deep grief over the widespread destruction and heavy death toll caused by the heavy rains in the Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan. He has directed the JI and Al-Khidmat Foundation workers to step up their relief work for the affected people. In a statement here on Wednesday, he held the government responsible for the losses stating that the government had not taken seriously the Met office forecast of heavy rains and floods. He said, the torrential rains and hill torrents in three provinces had caused heavy loss of life and property. Thousands of muddy houses had been destroyed, hundreds of people and their cattle heads had died and crops worth millions had been washed away.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that unfortunately, the corrupt rulers themselves invited natural tragedies so that they could misappropriate the billions received in foreign aid. He said that sudden release of river water by India had created a flood situation while on rulers in Islamabad were crazy for befriending that country.
The JI Ameer stressed upon the government to compensate for the losses suffered by the farmers and adopt necessary steps to minimize the losses by the flood. Meanwhile, according to information received at Mansoora, hundreds of JI and Al-Khidmat Foundation workers had reached the flood affected areas and were busy in relief activities.
