KARACHI: Mourning day (Yaum-e-Saug) is being observed by MQM in various cities of Sindh including Karachi today against the killing of MQM’s activist in police custody. According to details, the MQM’s activist, Waseem Dehelvi, was died of alleged torture in police custody afterwards; MQM announced a two-day mourning day in Sindh.
CNG stations and petrol pumps as well as hotels and shops which open early in the morning have been shut in various areas of Karachi. On the other hand, traffic I found to be very short on roads due to which the citizens are facing difficulties in order to reach their offices.
University of Karachi, NED University, Sir Syed University and intermediate boards have cancelled papers today due to the mourning day. The dates for the cancelled papers will be announced later. The mourning day is also being observed in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Mirpur Khas, Tando Adam Khan and other cities.
