Momina Basit became the youngest MPA in the KPK assembly through the reserved seats of women for the province. This is a brief biography about this emerging female politician from Pakistan.
Momina came into media highlight after her appointment by Pakistan Tehreek Insaf as the President of Hazara Region Woman.
After her appointment she became very active for election campaign for the party though she was not nominated on any constituency at that time. But do you know about her life before entering into politics?
Momina Basit was born in Mirpur union of Abbottabad District. She completed her schooling from her hometown and then pursued O/A levels examination through Cambridge Board. She also holds a masters degree in Public Administration (MPA).
Her date of birth and age is not known, rumours circulated about her husband & marriage but it is believed she is not married yet.
In an interview she revealed her interests about Basket Ball, she said I was part of Basket Ball team in my school & college life.
Other details about her personal life, brother, sister & mother are not known.
In 2011 she joined Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) along with her father after Imran Khan visited Abbottabad. Dr. Basit, father of Momina Basit was among one of the speakers in the political gather after which Imran Khan requested him to join PTI along with his daughter.
Momina said this was the start of her political career along with PTI. In 2012 she participated in intra party elections and was successful in securing highest number of votes from her Tehsil.
She was interested in participating in 2013 general elections but later backed out in support of another candidate for PTI.
Her profile as a social worker is not known though she is also involved in social work.
Momina is the official representative of Social & Welfare Initiatives (SAWI) for Kashmir, Hazara & Pothwar Region. SAWI works for women & children in impoverished parts of KPK by providing education & health facilities.
General Elections 2018:
During general elections of 2018 she became very active on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook & Instagram which made her very famous among social media users. One of the reason of her popularity was her beauty and fashion style of which instantly made her an online crush.
Momina Basit actively participated in election campaign for the party during General Elections 2018 despite the fact that she was not a candidate.
She also visited other parts of Hazara Division to pursue people in support of PTI. After winning the elections Momina was awarded PTI ticket on reserved seats for women.
There were rumours in the past that she is leaving PTI because there is no respect for women in the party. This rumour spread at a time when PTI Chairman Imran Khan was facing a scandal on harassing female party members.
She clarified that she is part of PTI and all these allegations are fake rumours on social media. She also talked about this topic during her interview on TV Program Mazaaq Raat.
