Islamabad: President Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Maulana Fazal ur Rehman has said that the defunct Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) would be restored on October 18, 2012, hinting the possible commencement of the political campaign for the upcoming general elections 2013.
While talking to media in the Federal Capital, Maulana said that the session for the restoration of United Action Front (Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal) has been called in Islamabad.
He further said that we have told Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) that they are not the part of MMA anymore. “MMA would now be restored without JI,” he stated.
It is to mention here that MMA earlier included Jamaat Islami (JI), country’s oldest religious party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (N), both factions of the pro-Taliban Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam [Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (S)], Professor Sajid Mir’s Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadith and Allama Sajid Naqvi’s outlawed Shia group Tehrik-e-Jafria Pakistan.
