Pakistan cricket team captain Misbah-ul-Haq perfomnce has been questioned a lot in the recent few matches. If we look as his stats it also shows that Misbah needs to improve his game. In 2012 Misbah-ul-Haq has played 17 One Day Internationals in which he has managed to score 477 runs at an average of 39.75 with a strike rate of 68.63 which is very low in ODIs. In the current year when Pakistan has batted first in ODI matches Misbah has scored 155 runs with a strike rate of 66.23 (average 22.14).
However in batting second Misbah has an impressive average of 64.40 but his strike rate is 69.84 which is must be at least 80 above while chasing the target. Misbah’s captaincy record in 2012 is also not good. He has captained Pakistan in 17 matches in 2012 out of which Pakistan lost 10 matches, one was abandoned and green shirts won 6 matches.
In the current year Pakistan has won Asia Cup played in Sri Lanka but have lost three ODI series against England, Sri Lanka and Australia.
Misbah who is now 38 will surely not be playing 2015 Cricket World Cup, therefore it now time for Pakistan Cricket Board to appoint a new captain in ODIs which can either be Mohammad Hafeez or Umar Gul.
