Clean water is considered top priorities of government around the world but getting clean tap water in Pakistan is a dream. Lack of clean water is the reason why people purchase mineral water but according to PSQCA only 278 companies out of 753 are registered.
Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) recently issued detailed report on mineral water companies which are selling bottled water without getting license.
PSQCA started a campaign to test samples from these illegal plants which are being operated without proper documentation. Most of the minerals water samples failed to meet the health and safety standards.
222 plants were sealed on the spot from which 76 were later authorized to operate after getting proper license and completing the documentation process & meeting the health standards.
Director General PSQCA Muhammad Khalid Siddique said that we will not forgive those who are selling poison in the name of drinking water. 25 companies are facing court cases, 3 companies were fined Rs. 50,000 while another company was fined for Rs. 25,000.
