It was one of the most tragic incidents when a young man jumped from 8th floor of a building in Karachi to save his life but he died. The video of that incident was aired from different channels which have terrorized many people as there was no help for this man. He hanged there for about 15 minutes but no fire brigade, rescue team reached the place.
Young man who was identified as Owais has came for a job interview in State Life building in Saddar. He was a student of Karachi University and was living in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. After the fire eruption in 8th floor of building Owais hung on the window pane to avoid fire inside. He would have been in hope that he will be rescued but no one came and he was unable to hold any longer (or many be slipped). He fell crashing into the floor extension of the building.
Later on Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah also visited the area and inquired about the situation. But it was too late. It is very sad to see that government institutions like fire brigade, rescue team are always late in these incidents and when people are killed then they reach the incident place. I request Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry suo moto notice of this incident and all those people who have shown irresoinbility which caused death of a young man should be punished and penalized.
It was also very disgusting to see that Pakistani news channel aired this video of young man falling from 8th floor. Media should have think about his family, relatives and friend. After watching this video almost all of the people get mentally disturbed.
Why on earth would you broadcast the footage of a man jumping from 8th floor of a building to death. There must be ethics and there should be line for media who critics politicians every time but never thinks what they are airing.
The video is uploaded on internet and is also on social networking websites but we are not uploading the video of the tragic incident as it will only frighten the viewers.

An open letter to the immature Pakistani News Media:
I am in a state of shock and awe after watching the degree of irresponsibility shown by our self-proclaimed professional news media. It was unnerving and frightening to watch live coverage of someone hanging for his life and eventually falling from the 8th floor of a high-rise. It’s clear that our media personnel were educated with books that did not have the chapter of media ethics.
It’s not hidden that our media more than often portrays and highlights the negatives of our society. Perhaps it aspires to follow the footsteps of our neighbor not realizing that they themselves are a laughing stock!
Our news channels have become a source of depression, hopelessness and misery. It’s true that a bad news sells more than a good one, but this is where moral principles and ethics come into play.
Can you please give me a reason about what was so interesting in the funeral proceedings of Bal Thackeray? Why did we break all the records of cheapness when it came to the Shoaib-Sania nuptial? Even the Malala affair was blown out of proportion by the media! Our media needs to understand their roles as ambassadors.
My last plea is to THINK before broadcasting videos of death! If you still insist on being merely spectators instead of saviors then at least spare the families of the victim and our society in general from replaying the horrid video again and again!
May God guide us all!
