Islamabad: The first lunar eclipse (partial) for the year 2012 will occur today (4th June) in many parts of the world, but the eclipse will remain invisible to the people of Pakistan, officials of Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO)announced here on Friday.
However, the first lunar eclipse of the year will be visible to the Far East countries includingKorea,Japan,Thailand,ChinaandNew Zealand, Australia, the Pacific Ocean, and North/ South America.
It is to mention here that a lunar eclipse takes place when the Moon passes behind the Earth so that the Earth blocks the Sun’s rays from striking the Moon. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, and Earth lies in the middle.
