London Police stopped, handcuffed and searched a Muslim man because they believed he was wearing too many layers of cloth and was a security risk for the people.
The incident happened on last Friday when the man was going for Jummah prayers. A British woman on the street, which may have been an undercover police, become concerned about the clothing on which police stopped him.
The Police claimed that under section 1 they have the right to stop and search someone but others said that section 1 is applicable doesn’t apply just because of extra layer of cloth.
Muslim Groups and social media activists criticized the act of the police calling it discrimination against a Muslims. They said such profiling of Muslims is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.
In recent years the islamophobia in western world has increased, recently Muslims were attacked with acid, faced discrimination of schools, parks, colleges and were even attacked by near Finsbury Mosque killing 1 and injuring 10.
