The Lahore High Court orders to ministry of Information technology to block all those websites which are involved in violation blasphemy law in Pakistan, especially social networking website Facebook. Court orders to ban Facebook on permanently basis for encouraging 2nd Annual Draw Muhammad Day-May 20, 2011 event. Court also clarifies that Google search engine will remain on and no other search engine will block also.
This petition was filed by Azhar Siddiqui, he also filed petition against vulgar video and pictures website. It’s not first time that Facebook banned by court, last year same scenario happened and after event Facebook website was reopened in Pakistan.
Most of the people in Pakistan still using Facebook and they are not looking serious regarding this court’s order. Many other Pakistani developers tried to overcome Facebook and they make social networking websites but they remained fail to get public attention due to lack of resources and some other reasons.
The ban is not a permanent solution as many other leading websites are involved in this type of scenes. Our government should warn admin of Facebook and other websites who are giving free hand to violate Islamic rules. Only true leadership of Islamic shariah government can dare to defend blasphemy of Muhammad SAWW.
