Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned the hearing of petition challenging US drone attacks in Pakistani territory for two weeks. A bench of LHC comprising of Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed heard the plea filed by Amir Jamaat Ud Dawa Hafiz Muhammad Saeed Ahmed on Friday. During the course of hearing federal government submitted its written reply in the court and counsel for federation stated that it is the responsibility of the government to formulate all kinds of policies including drone attacks and courts could not intervene into the governmental policies.
The counsel for the petitioner told the court that thousands of people have been killed in US drone attacks in Pakistan’s tribal region, adding that parliament also passed resolution against drone attacks but government has failed to implement on the resolution of parliament.
After reviewing the federal government report counsel for applicant A. K. Dogar requested that he wants to submit his reply against the federal reply so court may award him some time.
The court accepted his request and adjourned the further proceedings of the case till two weeks. After hearing the arguments, court remarked that courts cannot interfere in government’s policies. (SANA)
