West Indies fast bowler Fidel Edwards who has said recently that he want to become number one bowler in cricket world has achieved his career-best ranking in the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test bowlers following the drawn third and final Test against India at Dominica.
The 29 year old finished with the series with 19 wickets and now has achieved the 16th position in the latest rankings, a position he holds jointly with South Africa spinner Paul Harris.
India’s Harbhajan Singh who passed the 400 wicket mark in the last test is up by one place to seventh. Man of the series, Ishant Sharma, drops one place to eighth in the rankings.
The top three remain unchanged with Dale Steyn of South Africa still leading the way ahead of England’s Graeme Swann and James Anderson who are second and third respectively.

The top five remain unchanged with Jacques Kallis of South Africa still leading the way ahead of India’s Sachin Tendulkar in second position. Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag, who did not play in the West Indies series, have fallen back because a player loses one per cent of his ratings points for every Test he misses.
Despite winning the series, number-one team India has lost two ratings points in the latest ratings points due to the fact that it drew two matches of the three-Test series against a side that was ranked 42 points and six places below it.
Equally, Darren Sammy’s men has gained two ratings points and remains on seventh position but are now just two ratings points behind Pakistan.
However, there is set to be further change this week as the annual update takes place before the start of the England v India series.
Mean while, England off-spinner Graeme Swann has become the number-one ranked bowler in the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for ODI bowlers for the first time in his career after the 32-year-old claimed series figures of 8-164 against Sri Lanka.
England after winning the action-packed series 3-2 has pushed Sri Lanka from third to fourth in the Reliance ICC ODI Rankings where as England has maintained its position in fifth.
In the bowler rankings, after Swann glide into top spot New Zealand former captain Daniel Vettori has finally been knocked off the top which he had occupied since September 2009.
England James Anderson also gained 17 points and has risen to 11th spot while Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis has dropped three places to 12th.
In the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has moved one position up to fourth but his captain Tillakaratne Dilshan has dropped six places to sit joint-ninth with Australia captain Michael Clarke. The Reliance ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen is still topped by the South African duo of Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers with Australia’s Shane Watson in third.
