Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has imposing permanent ban on protests at Mall Road has directed to Inspector General Police, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and district coordination officer that they would assure implementation of court orders strictly, adding that on the violation of court orders stern action would be taken against them and they have to face contempt of court.
Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Wednesday heard the application against protests on Mal Road. Application was filed by merchants of Mal Road Lahore and it was stated in application that there are historical buildings situated on Mal Road and merchants from all over the countries come here for shopping when roads get blocked through protests, the common people have to face problems and image of country is damaged also.
Earlier, learned court had stopped protests in its interim order while court on Wednesday disposed of the plea taking decision of constant banned on rallies and protests. Court has directed the administration its decision to spare the site for protests and rallies so that business may not be disturbed.
