Once an impossibility has now become reality, scientists have been successful in growing small strips of meat in laboratory through muscle cells of animals.
The research started in 2008 and in 2012 they were successful in separating the muscle cell and fat cells, then within few years they succeeded in creating meat through cells.
Memphis Meats successfully made meat balls but it was not mass production and the laboratory cost of producing it was $18,000. They are trying to overcome these issues to start producing it in large quantities and at cheap cost.
Hamton Creek is expecting that before the end of next year their lab grown meat will be available in major markets of USA.
The biggest hurdle is the perception of people who will not be comfortable to eating lab grown meat which they think is unhealthy and disgusting but scientist believe that with passage of time their behavior will change.
