Kumar Sangakkara Wins People’s Choice Award And ODI Player Of The Year 2011

Sri Lanka’s former captain and the one who led Sri Lanka to World Cup Final in 2011 Kumar Sangakkara has won the LG People’s Choice Award at the LG ICC Awards in London. This award was voted by millions of cricket fans.

Other players who were in this list were West Indies’ Chris Gayle, England’s Jonathan Trott, South Africa’s Hashim Amla and India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (who has won the spirit of cricket award).

Sangakkara was also declared the ODI Player of the Year 2011. During the voting period he played 25 ODIs and score 1049 runs (average 55.21) which includes one century and seven half-centuries.

He also took 26 catches and 10 stumpings as a wicket keeper.
