Karachi: “Team Duty – Baldia Fire Incident”, a Karachi University students’ campaign, aims to support the survivors and affected families of Baldia Fire Incident. A dreadful blazing incident occurred on September 12, 2012 snatching precious lives of as many as 259 factory workers while ‘they were forming a strong foundation of Pakistani economy at the factory,’ as the event organizers quotes on their social media fan page.
The seminar related to the event will be held on Friday, October 19 at Arts Auditorium, University Of Karachi. The organizers term the event as, ‘One practical approach towards enlightenment of human rights.’
While talking to country based news Website Awami Web, organizing team member Shoaib Allauddin expressed his heart out saying, “Its our responsibility to support those, waiting for our help. They need us, we can not just give them a walk or a protest rather we need to work and adopt some practical approach.”
“Let’s have faith that right makes might; and in that faith let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it,” another operative insisted.
Team Duty has intended to accommodate the affectees by providing them permanent jobs that would not only help them financially but would also help them forgetting the pain of their beloved ones facing death in the incident.
For this cause, they have invited industrialists, company owners and executives from different corporations who will offer jobs to those who lost their jobs due to the tragedy. ‘Six companies have already showed their profound interest in this cause, many will join later as the campaign goes on,” Saad Rabbaani, student of Mass Communication told.
The charity program is also underway and the money collected through it will be distributed among the fire survivors, he added.
The students involved in this campaign have asked students from Karachi University and other universities as well to join hands with them, join the cause, work for the betterment of society and help the helpless.
