Kashmir Committee Jeddah held a meeting to observe Youme Shuhada-e-Kashmir. Consul General Khalid Majid and Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to OIC Mr Rizwan Saeed Sheikh were Chief Guests at the occasion.Community representatives and members of Kashmir Committee were also present.
Consul General Khalid Majid while addressing the gathering said that that Kashmir Committee Jeddah is an active body and have played active role in raising voice for Kashmir cause. He said we commemorate this day to tell our younger generation about sacrifices of our Kashmiri brethren who, in past, raised their voice for rights of kashmiri people. We have to keep these sentiments alive, he added. He said that annexation of Kashmir to the Indian Union is sheer violation of the UNSC resolutions and international law. Consul General reaffirmed government of Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic and moral support to the oppressed Kashmiris in their legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination, promised to them by the international community through numerous UNSC Resolutions.
Speaking at the occasion Mr. Rizwan Saeed Sheikh said that though the Kashmiris have been facing the cruelty of the hands of Indian government since long, the Modi government has further aggravated the situation by ending special status of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He called upon India to immediately stop gross, systematic and state sponsored human rights violations in Kashmir and allow international human rights and humanitarian organizations an unhindered access to the occupied state. Today we demand that all the Kashmiris under detention may be freed and the lockdown should be lifted, he added.
Earlier chairman Kashmir Committee Mr Masood Puri while telling the historical significance of the day told that on 13th July 1931, 20 Kashmiris were massacred by the Dogra government of Kashmir, in Srinagar, who had risen their voice for just cause. The incident marked the beginning of modern era Kashmir freedom struggle which has traversed through different phases including civilian protests, political struggle, he told.
Other members of Kashmir committee also expressed their views telling that the Dogra govt imposed restrictions on Muslims in performance of their religous duties and these martyrs had raised voice against this unjust decision. They paid rich tribute to the Kashmiri martyrs for their contribution in Kashmir freedom fight.
