Students from Karachi University (KU) have designed a device for patients of cardiovascular diseases which may save thousands of life each year.
The prototype of the device monitors heart beats and can send messages to the family members, ambulance service and doctor if there is any abnormality in the heart rates.

The PhD students are further working on the prototype so that it may also check the blood pressure regularly. If the blood pressure becomes high or cross the dangerous level the person, family members or any other person connected through GSM will be informed.
This was a result of innovative students from Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), they also won the first prize in ‘Innovations, Collaboration and Entrepreneurship’ which was held in Islamabad.
