On Monday the temperature in Karachi reached 40 degrees Celsius making it the hottest day of this year so far, according to Pakistan Meteorological Department the temperature will remain high for few days.
Met Office has also said that temperature will also increase in other parts of Sindh including Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sukkur & Mithi where the temperature will be even greater than Karachi.

Mayor Karachi announced the establishment of 12 heat stroke centers in different hospitals to provide relieve to the patients affected by the heat wave. Sindh government is also planning to take measures so that the lives of citizens will be saved in this extreme hot weather.
What Is Heat Stroke?
When the temperature exceeds 40 Celsius the body is unable to cool it down, this results in dehydration which results in high fever, fainting, headache and rapid breathing. If proper first aid is not given then it may result in death. In 2015 the heat wave killed 2,000 people in Sindh, particularly in Karachi.
First Aid For Heat Stroke:
If the symptoms of heat stroke are visible then do the following things to decrease the body temperature:
- Put the person in cool tub of water, or take a shower with cool water
- Fan the patient with continuous spraying cool water
- Sponge with cool water
- Place wet towels on head, neck, armpits & groin
