Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani has revealed that summer vacations in Karachi & other cities of the province for 2021 will be only for one month (July) rather than usual two months.
In a press conference he revealed that no winter vacations will be given in Sindh for the current year (2020) and the summer vacations will be only for July. This decision is applicable for all cities of the province including Hyderabad, Sukkur, Thatta, Nawabshah & Mirpur Khas.
The syllabus for schools and colleges is also reduced to compensate for the shorter duration of the academic year. Schools will also be open for 6 days a week rather than 5 days, ending the Saturday holiday.
The provincial minister further informed that the current academic year will be from September 15 to 3rd May, 2021. He also announced the dates for examination which are as follows:
For classes up to 8: From April 7, 2021
For Grade nine and grade 10 (matric): April 7, 2021 to April 17, 2021
For Grade 11 and grade 12 (intermediate): from May 18, 2021 to May 29, 2021
The decision to change the summer and winter holidays along with the syllabus were taken due to coronavirus epidemic which resulted in closure of schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutes for months.
