Because it comes from India and most people migrated from India is living in Karachi. You can check the products they are mostly from India.
A large part of Urdu speaking elders used to eat paan with pan daan and all… with passage of time like everything else in Pakistan everyone lost all etiquitee and culture.. gutka replaced paan.
Paan is eaten all over Pakistan so why is Gutka eaten only in Karachi and Hyderabad? Paan and Gutka are incomparable. Gutka is made of shit and the no.1 cause of mouth cancer. Paan on the other hand if made without tobacco isnt injurious to health.
Actually the main reason is, 75% of the people belonging from cast sects as Rajput, Dehliwalay, Bihari, Lucknow etc are living in Karachi, Hyderabad who migrated from India to Pakistan back then, since their elders of the families have been chewing tobacco, and the tradition is still carried out. But the form of tobacco they used to chew was Pan which is hygenic too in a way, these newly added products such as Mainpuri, JM, RMD, Panparag are the most cancerous. They’re just a new form of paan, but cannot even come close to the love of Paan. So this is the major reason.
Why only pashtuns eat naswar?
It’s not only Karachi people who eat Gutka, you need to Re-Search on it. It’s quite common in interior Sindh, Balouchistan, southern Punjab and Kashmir also. It’s gradually increasing as an addiction… When it comes to Lahore or Islamabad they prefer Alcohal Or hashish as it’s status symbol for them.
I think RAW elements spread it in Karachi. 10-15 years ago no one ate gutka in Karachi and now they paint the whole damn city red with it, lol.
