Early Life:
Qazi Faez Isa was born on October 26, 1959 in the house of Qazi Muhammad Essa who is known for his role in Pakistan movement. His father was a prominent leader in the independence movement and trusted associated of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
His mother Begum Saida Isa was known for her social work relating to education, children and women’s health issues.
He completed his early schooling in the hometown of Quetta and then did his O & A levels from Karachi Grammar School (KGS). For higher education he went to London (UK) from where he did his B.A. (Honors) in Law.
In 1982 after he completed Bar Professional Examination from the Inns of Court School of Law he was called to the Bar of England and Wales after few years he returned to Pakistan.
He is married and have 2 children, both his son and daughter are married. Currently he is settled in the federal capital of Islamabad.
Professional Career:
On January 30, 1985 Qazi Faez Isa enrolled as an Advocate of the Balochistan High Court and later as an Advocate Supreme Court in 1998.
When General Musharraf declared emergency in November, 2007 he was among those who refused to appear in front of the judges because they violated their oath.
In 2009 he became the Chief Justice of the High Court of Balochistan and is applauded for the many steps he took including reopening of High Court at Sibi and construction of the High Court at Turbat.
On September 5, 2014 he took oath as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
During his years in SC he was involved in many landmark decisions and cases including Houbara bustard hunting case, Quetta massacre inquiry commission and Faizabad sit-in case.
Petitions Filed Against Qazi Faez Isa:
The first petition against Qazi Faez Isa was filed in March 2018 challenging his appointment as Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court. It was claimed that his appointment was made without following the process.
Another petition was filed against him accusing the judge for concealing his assets and demanding action as per article 209 of the constitution.
Many believe that the current campaign against Qazi Faez Isa was initiated after his controversial remarks about state institutions in judgment of Faizabad dharna (sit-in) case. It was because of the same case that The Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) demanded his removal.
