Journalist Khawar Naeem Hashmi is the senior executive vice president of BOL News. He is known for his advocacy of freedom of press. His struggle for the freedom of press in Pakistan speaks of his dedication to the field. He has remained an active champion of the press freedoms throughout his journalistic career and fro that he also had to make sacrifices, when he was persecuted for supporting the cause of freedom of expression. But this didn’t dampen his spirits and he continued his struggle.
Khawar Naeem did his bachelors from Islamia College Lahore. He took his first step in journalism with Daily Azad in 1971 while working for the children’s section. He went on to join Daily Musawat in 1974 as a Film Editor. He then worked in the paper’s newsroom as an editor for three years. He joined daily Jang in 2002 as a subeditor. His services made him the Bureau Chief of Geo in Lahore later on.
Khawar Naeem’s staunch support for the freedom of press earned him a reputation. His experience grew as he switched jobs to work with various media house in both the print and electronic media, thus displaying a high level of professionalism and journalistic integrity. He is also known by several iconic headlines that were able to not just convey the exact meaning of the story within but was able to effect masses.
